AN EXTREMELY FINE .45-75 (WIN) LEVER-ACTION REPEATING SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL'1876', serial no. 1683,
for 1877, with blued octagonal 28in. barrel, dove-tailed folding blade and ring fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the top of barrel signed 'WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN CT' and 'KING'S IMPROVEMENT' with patent dates of '1866' and '1860', plain colour hardened slab-sided receiver, blued sliding dust cover and loading gate, top-tang fitted with a period adjustable ladder vernier-sight, walnut butt-stock with colour hardened iron crescent heel-plate fitted with a central sliding trapdoor containing the original cleaning rods in an aperture beneath, single set trigger, colour hardened finger-lever, plain walnut fore-end with iron nose-cap, full-length under barrel magazine, factory sling-swivels, the whole retaining the majority of its possible original factory finish and colour with only some light storage marks and appearing little used
